Jacinda Barett - For a
month Jacinda and I worked closely together at the British
American Drama at Oxford, England. We performed our final
scene project together as sister and brother, Ophelia and Laertes from Hamlet. Almost immediately after the
program she was selected by People magazine as one of the
50 most beautiful people in the world and has had a successful
career as an actress with starring credits that include The Last Kiss, Poseidon, & Ladder 49.

Jimmy Johnson - From grade
school through high school, Jimmy was two years behind me. I
can remember when we thought it was cool that he got Snap On
Tools sponsorship as a dirt bike racer. He now is
NASCAR's, two-time defending Nextel Cup Champion. He also has
made People Magazine's list of 50 most beautiful people in the
world.

Shane Spencer - I attended
Granite Hills High School with "The Home Run Dispenser"
Shane Spencer. Growing up he was best friends with one of my
current best friends Jamie Leckie. Shane had the most
success when won a World Series ring with the New York Yankees,
beating the
Padres, my favorite team, in the 1998 World Series. On the road to his World
Series ring, Shane hit three grand slams in the month of
September as a late season call up. This tied Babe Ruth,
Lou Gehrig, and Jo DiMaggio for most grand slams in a single
season by a Yankee player. Shane has left the dark side
(Yankees) and is currently working for the good guys (Padres) as
a hitting coach for one of their minor league affiliate teams, The Lake
Elsinore Storm.

John Barnes - I attended
Granite Hills High School with John. He has spent most of his career
in the minor leagues. He has played at the major league level as
an outfielder with the Minnesota Twins and Pittsburgh Pirates.
An interesting coincidence is that when the Padres acquired Brian
Giles from the Pirates, John took Brian's spot in Pittsburgh's lineup. John is now trying to make it back to the
major leagues as a pitcher and he just might do that as he is
posting impressive numbers in the minors.

Tom Fordham - I attended
Granite Hills High School with Tom and I will admit that he struck
me out on more than one occasion in Little League. He
lived his dream by pitching in the major leagues for the White Sox in
1997 and 1998.

Tommy Vardell - Tommy
graduated the year before I attended Granite Hills. In
College he was a standout running back for Stanford. In high
school it was neat to hear my high school mentioned on National
Television while watching College Football. Thus he was
the first of this group that showed success is possible.
Tommy went on to be a NFL running back for the 49er's, Lions, &
Browns.
