Whether it is a party or a convention, an energetic and outgoing costumed character or mascot can transform your gathering from being ho-hum to unforgettable.

Often companies spend thousands of dollars on a convention without including their mascot. Sometimes they recruit an employee to play the part with the result of just an awkward, frustrated person in a hot stuffy costume.

To make your mascot come alive, you need an experienced entertainer that knows how to successfully schmooze and energize the crowd so conference attendees eagerly come over to visit your booth. It is important that the entertainer understands that the character represents the personality and professionalism of your company.

Dan McLellan has over 15 years of experience performing costumed characters. His entertainment career began with performing as Chuck E. Cheese. Since then he has performed a variety of characters in many different settings. For example he performed for the Ronald McDonald's school assembly program, as Santa Claus for Legoland California, as Captain Picnic for Picnic People, and as the promotional Grinch for the Old Globe for six years.

Rates

  • $100 per hour
    Monday through Thursday
     
  • $125 per hour
    Friday & Saturday with an ending time before 4:00 p.m.
     
  • $150 per hour with a 2-hour minimum
    Friday & Saturday with an ending time after 4:00 p.m.

Typical Questions

  • Does Dan do themed character birthday parties?
    No, that is not his specialty. Dan performs characters in which the client provides the costume. With the exception of Santa Claus, which he provides the the costume.
     
  • Can we get the Grinch at our event?
    The Grinch is not available for private performances. The promotional Grinch is only used to promote the the Globe's production of The Grinch That Stole Christmas during the holiday season. If you have an event during the holidays where you would like the Grinch and it would be good for promoting the show, please contact the Old Globe Theater.
